About the Company |
|
How Kringstad Ironworks got started. Kringstad Ironworks Inc. (KII) was started by Bernie and Leigh Kringstad in 1996, located on the family farmstead just south of Hoople, ND. The company started with just four full-time employees including Bernie. By the end of 2000 the business had employed five-full time and six part-time summer employees. The operation started as a repair shop for farm equipment and has grown to one of the area’s premier manufacturing facilities with a second location in Park River, ND.

May 22nd 2007, Bernie Kringstad is awarded for his accomplishments as a North Dakota business owner. During a ceremony Lieutenant Governor Jack Dalrymple and Commerce Department Commissioner Shane Gillette give KII a quaking aspen tree “Commemorating exemplary growth and recognizing the company’s strong roots planted for continued success.”

KII and the University of North Dakota team up to manufacture a $517,000 test product for the US Army. The project was funded by the Office of Secretary Defense (OSD), and was expected to be complete in October of 2004. The drone are propelled by rocket bottles that are attached to the drone. Once the drone is up and running the drones onboard motor will take over. This system is expensive and extremely hazardous, so the OSD Target Group questioned if the process could be replaced mechanically.
